Chesterfield Festival of Cricket

Chesterfield Festival of Cricket.

The BRM Chesterfield Festival of Cricket returns to Queen’s Park this month, with five action-packed days of cricket between Derbyshire and Yorkshire. The festival will see the two sides meet under the crooked spire, first in a Vitality County Championship four-day fixture, starting on Sunday 30 June, and then a huge Vitality Blast T20 on Sunday 7 July.

Derbyshire will be showing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the Festival, by sporting Rainbow Laces, joining forces with the ECB and 17 other first-class counties to show that cricket is a sport for everyone.

An annual event, the Chesterfield Festival of Cricket is one of the most popular events in the county cricket calendar, with the iconic venue playing host to plenty of memorable moments over the years, from record-breaking performances, to last over wins, Queen’s Park has seen it all!

This year’s T20 fixture will also see the home debut of Pakistan internationally-renowned fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, in Derbyshire colours, fresh from starring for at the ICC T20 World Cup.

Tickets for both matches are on sale now at derbyshireccc.com. Adult T20 tickets start from just £28, with discounts available for groups of five adults or more.

Chesterfield Festival Passes, which includes entry to all five days of cricket at Queen’s Park, are available for just £49.

Queen’s Park is easily accessible by bus from various stops across Derbyshire and Yorkshire, with a max fare of £2 one way, and you can plan your journey to the Cricket festival at Stagecoach Bus. Whether you’re in Sheffield or Shirebrook, Bakewell or Barnsley, it’s easy to get yourself down to a day at the cricket in Chesterfield.

The Jewel in Derbyshire’s Crown

David Griffin’s definitive book on the history of cricket at Queen’s Park is expected to arrive with us from the printers in the next 3 weeks, in time for the Chesterfield Cricket Festival which starts on Sunday 30th June 2024.

We are very grateful for the support of everyone who has agreed to be a sponsor and everyone who has pre-ordered the book. So far we have sold nearly 80 copies but we know that many people will want to buy a copy at the Festival, hopefully alongside our 2024 Festival Annual.

We have invested in a snazzy new Sum Up contactless machine and so you can now pay by cash or card. We will be in the Brampton Brewery tent on the bank to the west of the ground and look forward to seeing you there.

Please keep everything crossed for good weather!

The 2024 Annual has landed!

The 2024 Annual has landed.

Produced by Friends, it will be available at the Chesterfield Cricket Festival and, although it does not have a cover price, we would love it if you were to make a donation towards our work.  It is packed full of great cricket stories again this year including an article about cricket during the Miner’s Strike, which was now 40 years ago.
